This illustration was produced as part of an Ilustrators Ireland project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles with an exhibition entitled 'The Illustrated Beatles'. A number of creatives, DJs, writers etc. were asked to nominate their favourite Beatles track, which were then paired randomly with an Irish Illustrator. I got 'Drive My Car', selected by animation director Norton Virgien.
This track was released in 1965, and I took as my starting point that the group were just about to move form the initial 'duotone' period of Beatlemania into a whole other level of frenzy and psychedelia. The lyrics of the song inspired the main concept. Hope you like it :-)
